In the census tracts shaded orange on the map, Puerto Rican New Yorkers make up at least 20 percent of the population overall and a majority of Latinos. WNYC looked at the 129 election districts that fall into those tracts and how residents voted in the 2012 Democratic primary for the 13th Congressional District.

Congressman Charlie Rangel beat challenger Adriano Espaillat by a 2-to-1 margin in these areas, with 4,073 votes to Espaillat's 2,008.
